For a year now, I have been working through some ideas on how to ensure that a Catholic higher education institution, such as my own, maintains its Catholic identity when offering more online courses and programs. In particular, I wanted to work through how to ensure that the focus on communities and relationship-centered teaching and learning is maintained in such online learning environments.

Today I presented these thoughts, not as an end piece but as an organized account of where this journey has lead me. I encouraged my colleagues to engage me in conversation during this talk, as I wanted to make certain I was considering everything I need to consider. I hope to turn this talk into an essay this summer.

Until then, I wanted to share this talk with you all online to gain even more feedback, more ideas, more suggestions as I move forward. Below are both the SoundCloud with the audio from this talk (my apologies for the poor audio) and the text of the presentation I gave.

Online Learning Communities with a Catholic Flair
