This is an idea I am working on. To get at the foundation of everything fandom. To understand the basic sense-making activities that constitute being a fan of something. To see being a fan in many different context outside of sports subcultures, pop subcultures, and media subcultures. To recognize how being a fan is a foundational human activity.
This is only the beginning, but it is a beginning with a long gestation.
