This page is devoted to a new project I and Christopher Olson (Seems Obvious to Me) are working on, now that I have a new found academic and fan interest in professional wrestling.
- It all started with an interest in how professional wrestling converges and remixes genres together in the production of its text.
- This new interest led to my coining the phrase “convergent wrestling” and developing conference panels to analyze and discuss it.
- On an episode of our podcast, The Pop Culture Lens, we compared the WWE of now to the WWF of then.
- An autoethnographic account of my first time attending a live professional wrestling event.
- A more thorough explanation of what is meant by the term “convergent wrestling.”
- Considering the co-construction of kayfabe through a live AAW event.
- This blog post collects presentations on convergent wrestling given at CSCA and MPCA conference.
- The audio recording of a discussion about convergent wrestling at an academic conference.
- A discussion on how sports entertainment fits between sports and entertainment due to audience interaction.
- The Pop Culture Lens discusses the history of ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) and its impact on professional wrestling as a whole.
